CHRISTMAS MARKETS 2014

Isn't is scary to know that Christmas is just around the corner again! I for one don't normally like to think of Christmas until 1st of December.  But sometimes one has to be a little more organised.
Myself and my intern Tess (from Fashion Tech) have been busy not only making cushions, new door & draught stops, but organic fabric napkins and silk sleeping masks, organic teatowels and aprons.

This is all in preparation for the Christmas Underground Markets.  3 weekends packed full of lots of handmade Christmas gifts from local designers and crafters.

Following the success of this year's pop up shop, we are once again going to be spending the Wellington Summer in a container on the waterfront.

NEW WEBSITE

The website is finally going to get an upgrade.  I created it myself using a blogspot template as a temporary fix, and nearly 4 years later it is still there and starting to look a bit tired.   So watch this space.

Provide feedback and go into the draw to win a $30 voucher.

Feedback would be very appreciated if you can spare the time.  I would love to know what you do like about the current website, or where you think it might need improvement.  Do you think it needs more information or less?   What would you like to see more of?

Go Green Expo

GO GREEN EXPO 2014
this weekend

TSB Arena Wellington

Tickets $10 door entry

Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th November
10am - 5pm

This coming weekend we will be joining Greenhaus Architects & BBE Institute at the Go Green Expo.

Last year's first ever Go Green Expo was a roaring success with a huge array of eco and organic goodies on show, along with a lovely crowd of people who came along.

BBE and Verdant will both be presenting talks on Building Renovating and Dressing your home ecologically.

Saturday 8th  Room 1
Verdant                                        12pm
BBE & Greenhaus Architects        2pm

Sunday 9th     Room 2
Verdant                                        11.35pm
BBE & Greenhaus Architects        3.05pm

BBE also run workshops where you can design your own Eco Home, or you can just go and get information on the weekend course.  I thoroughly recommend this workshop if you are thinking of building or renovating or even if dreaming of doing so.  It will help put things into perspective, and give you some alternative ideas to the standard building materials out there.  If you come to the expo and our stand you can go into the draw to win the weekend workshop for free.

Win two tickets to the Show

Just email us by 9am Friday 7th Nov,  telling us why it Feels Good to Go Green

Tickets $10
Or I have spotted coupons for $5 tickets at Commonsense Organics.

RECENT PROJECTS
South Coast

An install of curtains and relaxed roller blinds on the South Coast of Wellington.  Hemp lining was used on the back of all the curtains and blinds.  Hemp is naturally UV, mould and mildew resistant.  And of course it comes from a renewable resource.

Kapiti Coast

This client has just finished building her Eco Home on a beautiful lifestyle block. The house features solar panels and a wood stove, as well as stunning Rosewood floors, skirtings & architraves that came from a friend's barnyard stash. I just love visting this client home in its  beautiful serene spot.

In her bedroom she opted for a elegant duck egg blue linen to complement the intricate wool blanket she had.  We lined the curtains in a washable woven dimout to dim out light for those bright full moon nights.

The client didn't want to block out the light in her entrance, but wanted to soften the windows and filter the sunlight.  We opted for some simple white linen curtains, made in a way so that if a lining is ever wanted we can easily attach to the back.

We also updated her wood floor lamp with a new lampshade in the Organic Cotton & Hemp Seaweed design.  The chair (also in the Seaweed) is a project in progress.

Wairarapa

Late last year we installed a house full of 100% Hemp curtains.  Fabric and lining.  This almost completely off the grid, eco home has been built to the exact size materials come in, meaning there was very minimal wastage.  White washed plywood feature throughout,  along with an exposed concrete wall and floor to capture and store the heat from the sun.
